Wake Forest, N.C.,- Reuben Matthews, vice president of the board of directors for Wake Electric Membership Corporation (Wake Electric), has been recognized for 20 years of service to the electric cooperative. Matthews resides in Middlesex, NC. He represents district nine in Wake Electric’s service territory, which includes the portions of Wake Electric’s service area located in Johnston and Nash Counties.

The commendable service award was presented at the North Carolina Association of Electric Cooperatives’ (NCAEC) annual meeting on April 3. NCAEC is the trade association for the 26 electric cooperatives in North Carolina, including Wake Electric.

The cooperatives provide reliable, safe and affordable electricity to more than 950,000 homes, farms and businesses in North Carolina. The co-ops are not-for-profit organizations that are member owned and overseen by a board of directors elected by the membership.

Wake Electric, a Touchstone Energy cooperative, serves more than 37,000 members in Durham, Franklin, Granville, Johnston, Nash, Vance and Wake counties.
