Wake Forest, NC—- Wake Electric is currently experiencing 275 power outages this morning, which were caused by storms with very high winds last night.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, a line of powerful thunderstorms swept through Wake Electric’s service territory. At the peak of the storm, more than 8,447 members were without power.

Power outages were caused by high winds and fallen trees. Our crews continue to work this morning, along with help from crews from neighboring Tri-County Electric Membership Corporation, to get the remaining 275 outages restored as quickly and safely as possible.

If people see a downed power line, they should report its location to their local electric cooperative, Wake Electric, or call 911. Under no circumstances should people approach or drive over downed power lines.
