Brassfield Volunteer Fire Department Receives a $508,000 Zero-Interest Loan for New Fire Truck
Franklinton, NC – The Brassfield Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) received a $508,000 zero-interest loan from Wake Electric to purchase a new 2023 Rosenbauer Custom Side Mount Pumper. Brassfield, located in Granville County, continues to grow, increasing the demand for efficient and effective emergency services. This new fire engine will enable the BVFD to deliver its services more safely and efficiently.
The BVFD protects more than 11,000 residents and numerous businesses throughout their fire district. The department’s firefighters respond to numerous emergency calls each year and provide mutual aid to neighboring fire departments. This zero-interest loan will ensure that they meet National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, by retiring an older rescue truck to the reserves, making the new truck the primary response vehicle for their district. Upgrading their primary engine is essential to ensure the safety and protection that their residents deserve.
“Supporting the Brassfield Volunteer Fire Department with this loan aligns with our cooperative principle of ‘Concern for Community’,” said Jim Mangum, Wake Electric General Manager and CEO. “Ensuring that our local fire departments have the necessary resources enhances public safety and also strengthens the community as a whole.”
Funds for this fire engine were made possible through the Business Development Loan program from North Carolina’s Electric Membership Corporation (NCEMC). The program provides zero-interest funds to electric cooperatives, who in turn lend the money to local entities for projects that support rural areas.
