Wake Electric Hosts EV Ride-Along Event
Last Saturday, Wake Electric hosted its annual Electric Vehicle (EV) Event, giving members a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with the latest in EV technology. Held at our Youngsville office and warehouse facility, the event welcomed families and individuals interested in exploring what it’s like to own an electric vehicle.
This year’s event took things a step further—offering ride-alongs in several EV trucks, including the Rivian R1T, Ford F-150 Lightning, and the Tesla Cybertruck. Members were able to feel the power, quiet operation, and smooth ride that make electric trucks so appealing.
In addition to the rides, several electric vehicles were on display, such as the 2025 Tesla Model Y, a 2021 Tesla Model Y, and the Cadillac LYRIQ Sport. Wake Electric’s knowledgeable staff and Board of Directors were on hand to answer questions and share information about EVs and our special EV billing rate, which rewards members for charging their vehicles during off-peak hours.
The event also featured family-friendly fun, with hamburgers and hot dogs served by Strickland Farms, ice cream from Scoops on Main, and a coloring activity for kids.
Wake Electric has a long tradition of helping members understand new technologies—from early appliance demonstrations to today’s hands-on EV experiences. We’re proud to continue this legacy by offering events that help members explore their energy choices and prepare for the future of transportation.
