Wake Electric Hosts Series of Electric Vehicle Events
On September 27th, National Drive Electric Week kicked off, promoting the benefits of transitioning to electric vehicles. At Wake Electric, educating members about Electric Vehicles extends beyond just one week out of the year. Over the past four months, Wake Electric has organized a series of EV Events to inform our members about the advantages of switching to electric vehicles.
These events took place on Saturdays during the day at our Youngsville office and warehouse facility. Each event in the series targeted members on different billing rates to reach various segments of our membership. Our most recent event was held on September 28th for selected members of our residential rate, with a total attendance of 450 members throughout the series of EV events. The events allowed members to explore these vehicles with Wake Electric’s knowledgeable Board of Directors and staff on hand to answer questions about the vehicle technology and our EV rate.
\These events featured catering by Strickland Farms and Scoops on Main, offering hamburgers, hotdogs, and ice cream. They were designed to provide family fun and saw the attendance of many parents and children. Each event showcased different EVs, including the Tesla Model Y, Tesla Model 3, Rivian R1T, Ford F-150 Lightning, Cadillac LYRIQ, and Tesla Cybertruck.
Wake Electric has a strong tradition of helping its members explore and understand new technologies. Education is one of our cooperative principles, dating back to the early days when we provided appliance demonstrations to educate members about the benefits of electricity. As EV technology continues to advance, Wake Electric remains committed to providing members with hands-on experience and understanding through events like these.
If you are thinking about purchasing a plug-in electric vehicle, Wake Electric is offering a special, discounted electric vehicle rate to members with an electric vehicle when they charge their vehicle during off-peak hours. To learn more or sign up for this special rate, call Wake Electric at 919.863.6300 or learn more about special rates here.
