Preparing for Hurricane Isaias

Aug. 4, 2020 at 8:15 a.m. – At around 5:00 a.m., we had about 2,700 members without power. We currently have four members experiencing an outage and our crews are working to restore power to these members. Thank you for your patience as our crews worked to restore power throughout the night.

Aug. 3, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. – Wake Electric is closely monitoring Hurricane Isaias and is prepared to respond at a moment’s notice. We encourage our members to be prepared and informed as well. You can track outages and restorations in real time  on the live Outage Map and find storm safety and preparation tips on North Carolina’s Electric Cooperative’s online storm center.

The easiest and most efficient way to report an outage is through our SmartHub app available for Android and iOS phones and tablets. You can also check our Facebook page for outage and power restoration information.  You can also call 919.863.6499 or 800.743.3155.

Wake Electric has been tracking Tropical Storm Isaias which is forecast to make landfall along the Carolina coast Monday night through Tuesday morning. Areas east of I-95 are expected to feel the most impact from this storm including strong winds, heavy rain and potential for moderate flooding and tornado activity. Due to saturated soils and strong winds, downed trees and power lines are at an increased risk.

Conditions should begin to improve south to north late Tuesday morning and into the afternoon. Wake Electric is prepared should power outages occur. Now is the time to check your emergency plan and emergency supply kit and take necessary actions to protect your family and secure your home or business. Always heed the advice of local officials and comply with orders that are issued.
