Wake Forest, N.C.- Wake Electric’s crews are on alert for any outages that may result from the predicted wintry weather.
Snow, freezing rain and sleet are possible overnight and in the coming days across North Carolina and in Wake Electric’s service territory, and the co-op is monitoring conditions closely. Freezing rain is the greatest concern, as ice-laden branches that fall on power lines are a major cause of outages during winter storms.
If you see a downed power line, report it immediately to Wake Electric or 911. Under no circumstances should anyone approach or drive over a fallen power line.
Wake Electric members should make sure they have their electric cooperative’s outage number available. Members can report an outage 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 919.863.6499 or toll free 800.743.3155.
Wake Electric is a non-profit electric utility serving over 37,500 members in parts of Franklin, Durham, Granville, Johnston, Vance, Nash, and Wake counties.
