WAKE FOREST, NC— Wake Electric has awarded 17 college scholarships equaling a total of $22,000.
The $2,000 Fred M. Alford Memorial Scholarship is awarded to Brittany Sigrid Besser of Raleigh Charter High School.
The Touchstone Energy Scholarship winners ($1,250 each) are:

2. Betsy Ann Dickerson of UNC-Wilmington
3. Kaitlyn Elizabeth Speer of North Raleigh Christian Academy
4. Monica Thi Nguyen of Franklinton High School
5. John Forrest Huffman of Franklin Academy
6. George Lawrence Hamilton, III of East Wake School of Engineering Systems
7. Sara Kristin Hocutt of East Wake High School
8. Trent A. Jones of Wakefield High School
9. Havanna Edelle Keeton of UNC Chapel-Hill
10. Tara Elizabeth Williams of Franklinton High School
11. Mariah Elizabeth Richards of East Carolina University
12. Dylan James Moss of Franklinton High School
13. Paige N. Fuller of East Wake High School
14. Kristen Mone’ Allen of Franklinton High School
15. Darrell Jamal Lucas of Louisburg High School
16. David N. Helbig of The Helbig Academy
Funding for scholarships is made possible by Wake Electric members and Wake Electric employees through the Operation Round-Up Program, a voluntary program in which members offer to round up their electric bill to the nearest whole dollar. For example, if the bill is $104.91, the bill will be rounded up 9 cents to $105.00.
