Scam alert to Wake Electric members. These criminals are at it again – some of our members have received calls from someone posing as a Duke Energy employee stating that Wake Electric has been bought out by Duke Energy and and then the caller threatens the member with disconnection of electricity if an immediate payment isn’t made. If you receive such a call, do not give your personal information over the phone. Always call Wake Electric at 1-800-474-6300 if you receive calls requesting personal information over the phone and payment demands. Spread the word to friends, local businesses, and family so they don’t fall victim to this scam.
